It is important to Allie to have a healthy foods available when traveling for the shows. She packs her car full of vegetarian-friendly foods to eat on the road, at the hotel, or while at the show. Allie says “as a vegetarian, it is really hard to find options at restaurants, let alone a gas station or food stand. So, I enjoy making sandwiches, salads, and snacks that keep me full of energy all day long.” She usually eats 3 meals per day and when she needs a quick snack, she reaches for fresh fruit or veggies. Some of her favorite treats include hummus, cheese and crackers, and on occasion, a small scoop of chocolate ice-cream!
Allie's planning helps her maintain her mellow demeanor and reduce the stress that comes along with being a professional. She aims to get 8 hours of sleep each night and likes to take her time getting ready in the morning. She says “it's my time to think and plan how I'd like the day to go. It helps me get into a good mindset for the day”.
Along the same lines as planning, Allie looks forward to her scheduled Mondays off. She is also a musician and takes this time to write music and play her guitar, piano or bass. She finds this to be relaxing and grounding - refreshing her for the week ahead.
It is clear that Allie's ability to listen to her body, manage her stress and surround herself with supportive people has contributed to her success as a rider and trainer. Allie's clients have earned top honors at local shows through USEF AA shows. Her horses are consistently in the ribbons in the professional divisions at HITS Ocala, WEF and Kentucky.
